Firstly top service from the Bigjimny shop and camskill! Excellent service
Spent all day doing the dreaded kingpin bearings and my CV, both are jobs i don't want to do again in a hurry. I'll have a go at most things with the spanners but everything was against me, bust my splitter straight away trying to take the steering joint apart so had to make do with hinging it in situ, couldn't get the last piece of the cv off so off to dads for a bit of assitance and out came the grinder, and finally god knows how long 1 of the bearing races took to come out. As time got on i made a couple of rushed mistakes to slow me down too.
Anyway all done now so i'm back in action, can't wait to get out and muddy again.
Big thanks to martin for sparing a few minutes for a bit of long distance help! And a thumbs up for the excellent how to's. Would have had a bigger headache if it wasn't for them.
Also changed my airfilter and found a bit of water(enough for concern) had got in from when i've been off road. I've been reluctant to fit a snorkel as i don't want to wade too deep with keeping full interior but on the strength of what i found a snorkel is next on the list.

Sounds like you had a real trial, sorry I couldn't offer a magic solution for getting the CV joint back on. I guess you managed it, as I said it suddenly seems to "just fit" and on it goes after lots of swearing"

TRIAL just about covers it. We cleaned up all the splines on the shaft then with a bit of tweaking the cv went on a treat.
I think i'm going to get a pair of shafts and joints from a breakers in reserve to keep me mobile if i bust one in the future.
