Jimny-Dave wrote: On a couple of test drives since fitting the new wheels and tyres I've had some "death wobble" (wobbling wheels and steering wheel at ~40mph), so I popped up to a mate's garage this afternoon -
And had a laser alignment done... I'd done it pretty well by eye, but they adjusted it to specification for me...
And then...
Balanced all the wheels and tyres, including the spare...
Errr...
More weights than the average gym!
But... no more wobble!
I do seem to have a bit of bump steer with this amount of lift and these big tyres though... something else to have a look at!
LOL, ooooh, the joys of Jimny ownership

Remoulds make sense to me as the potential for damage is high, especially on the rock Dave drives on, so damaging a cheap remould is better than an expensive new tyre.
Having said that, some new tyres like Kumho KL71's are not too expensive.

Makes good sense Kirky
But some non-remoulds like Silverstone MT117 Xtreme actually has a stronger sidewall than remoulds.
Note, I run remoulds myself. At the time I bougt them, the Silverstone were too expensive. But now they're much cheaper. So no more remoulds for me. Another great thing about new tyres is that they're lighter than remoulds. Which has a great impact on performance

Riding up at +4" with the big tyres now on, I appear to be getting some bump steer... small bumps in the road make me feel like I'm riding on a blancmange!
Zanfi +80mm front panhard relocation bracket and +4" drop pitman arm...
My birthday present to myself... Sunday - you've still got time to post a card!
