Thanks :) I'm pretty pleased with it. They're 235/75/15 nexen roadian mts. They're well priced but will hopefully still perform well.

It's service time this weekend for the jimny, but I'm uncertain on what oil to use, I believe the handbook suggest quite a variety of oils are compatible depending on climate ect, but I'd like to know what you guys are using.
Ideally it will be a choice of semi synthetic 10w40 or fully synthetic 5w30 as I can get hold of good quality oil from work.

Also as I'm planning to change the diff oils would I be right in assuming it requires regular 80w90 gear oil? Again what do you guys use or recommend.

Thanks in advance :)

Had the jimny out and found a few lanes, it faired well, I'm pleased with it so far!
I found about 8 different lanes over the last couple of night but 4 of them we got half way down and found they had trees across :(

I've fitted my arch extender (rubber strips) and got my castor correction all fitted along with little bits like floor mats (bargain, £11.99 from amazon for deep floor mats with a ridge around the edge to catch all the crap)

My old man payed for some tuition at essex off road for me as a birthday present. Learnt a hell of a lot, the guy that took me round, Charlie, was excellent and showed me how to make it look easy :P as a complete novice I couldn't believe how simple it was to be honest, it was very much a case of letting the car do all the work.

Have you seen the pictures on the website? www.offroad-armory.com/store/index.php?r...0_108&product_id=506

Looks like you have to drill the chassis for the bolts.

Did I realise before that you are so close to me and forget or have I not mentioned it before?

Perhaps we could hook up for a bit of Laning one day?

Yeh I got it sorted In the end. Il get some pics up tomorow of where I drilled them, might be helpful for others if they have a special moment like I did

I realised you were fairly close when we were talking about the floods a couple months ago but the car wasn't on road back then unfortunately. :(
I'd definatly be up for a bit of laning one weekend! I got a bit of time off over Xmas aswell so drop me a message and we can sort something out. I've been out and about round some of the local lanes but havnt had a chance to explore the north of the county yet and havnt had another car go out with so would be good to go with someone that can show me some good lanes.
I'm going essex off road this sunday for a pay and play day if you fancy it?

Laning sounds good, I work most weekends but get some off or parts of some off so will look nearer having one off. I don't do pay and plays any more as I get bored driving round & round now. I've just been there and done it too many times & my local club at Canewdon is quite hardcore and makes Essex Offroad seem like a drive in the park, so having done years there a site has to be good to get me excited!

I also got fed up with the maintenance. So I stick to laning only now. I like to see the scenery etc too.

A work mate used to go canewdon and said it was a mint site. Let me know when you get some time off as I'm free most weekends, only work every other Saturday morning. No doubt the weather will change soon so should mix things up a bit :)

Essex off road today

First time really testing the jimny and I was so impressed with it! Took a beating and didn't moan at all. The clutch faired really well! Considering how it got on today I think I'm going to push back the purchase of a rocklobster and focus on getting a winch next, because I got well and truelly stuck, if I had a winch I could have made it out easily.

My new favourite photo of the jimny :)

Bit deeper than I thought, trying to make my way round a landrover, little bit stuck here.

Got winched back by the kind gentle man on the right of the picture....

...only to end up beached in this, was rutted and I slid straight in  the guy with the winch manage to get round the front and winch me forwards and with the help of some waffle boards we manage to get it over a tree root and onto some solid ground. The yellow thing in the background. Was a chopped range rover v8 chassis, he managed to get round me then nearly rolled in the water he's stuck in, the pic was taken after they had level him out a bit!
