I didn't read this thread earlier as it wasn't relevant to me, but I have since swapped The Other Car for a Dongfeng Dacia which has the Renault system where you set up a safety profile and then there is a button to double tap each time you start the car that activates it.
Tbh I don't bother as it is fairly easy to tune out all the bings & bongs, I couldn't tell you if they are still working....
I wish it spoke to me like my old MG Montego though- I still miss those little mounds of rust on the drive
