Yeah but it's only a little on from the 80s that my dad got. I would like a proper old one but have yet to find one I like condition wise.

I've got some folding snips that I still use. These are dated 1917, but apparently, there were so many made in 1917 that they could have been issued as late as the 1950s.
They are general purpose cutters, whereas yours are proper wire cutters for barbed wire.
I have quite a few tools older than me, that I inherited from my late father, and he got them second hand. I'm still using a Blackhawk 1/2" drive 15" cracker bar from 1941.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
