I really mourn the loss of XP and to some extent Windows 7 but this Windows 10 is awful. My latest niggle is there was an update/upgrade a few days ago and after that a lot of my 'peripherals' didn't work but I din't suss it out for ages after spending hours trying to get the printer to chat with the PC and an onboard optical drive to stop telling me to format a DVD! I mean, what can go wrong with a DVD. I had a suspicion the update had caused this and then SWOM said it's a pity you can't go back to how it was before. I did just that and Voila it is all working well. I wish Microsoft would refrain from using end users as guinea pigs. I am sure this has happened on a number of times especially to my flash drives.
When in a panic I find W10 hard to use but perhaps that is because I am so used to using W7.

It might be me but I just find it works. But then 90pc of my online stuff is android based and the computer isn't so much of a go to tool as it once was.

It's a good point because I see W10 as possibly aimed at the tablet/phone/gamer usage - mine are Andoid.

Quite honestly if and when I need a new printer that will be wifi and the pc will almost certainly be redundant.

I have a Canon wifi printer - not used in this context - but I tend to hate it.

You are sounding a little bit like a luddite, if I may be so bold.

In a limited way perhaps as I think the internet is a plague on civilisation.

Like so many things it depends on how you use it as to whether it controls you or you it. As a tool for finding information it is amazing. As an outlet for the stream of consciousness of some blithering fool feel obliged to express, not so much.

I too was a big fan of XP. Half the stuff on W10 I don't use and don't need. :(

In 2012 bought an all in one touch screen desk top running W8, I loved it combination of touch mouse and keyboard. Bluetooth speakers etc. Then came W8.1 could not wait. However, spent the next 4 years trying to get my Bluetooth speakers to work and had to change over to a wired mouse as I got fed up with the slow spead and the constant disk searching and update. Then came W10 still no Bluetooth speaker. Bill Gates then wasted about a month of my life. The latest W10 update happened recently. It wiped my download directory and so I lost most of my add ons apparently it deletes things that have not been used for 30 days. I lost my scanner as it could not cope with all in one printers. It wiped other legacy programs from Windows Essentials and interfered with other Google based applications. If the graphics card is older than 3 or 4 years then you maybe into the Blue screen of death when exiting graphic based programs. I could go on. I have now restore the machine to W8 and my Bluetooth speakers and mouse worked straight away. I did have to intall 209 updates but I am very happy. Will I be going to W10 in the future. NO my next machine will be a top of the range Chrome Book ( with Google Store access ).

Yes mine are all in one printers. It ciuaght me out as I needed to print a few addresses and the PC would not communicate with the printer no matter what steps I took. I was thinking of going Apple but a chrome machine is a good idea..............just depends on the cost.

I switched one of my machines back to Windows 7 recently - it's so much better on a desktop. I hated Windows 8, Windows 10 slightly less so. I'm no luddite having been in IT for 20 years, but am wary of software companies "taking control" over the update process, especially as they often fail.
