No Kung Fu. I think the Chinese triads might have been in the story or some sort of mafia. He'd had to play a part of being a down and out for a long time to win the trust of the people he was after. Early on he's in a bar and gets into drunken trouble - I was amazed as it seemed so out of character. It's only after about halfway into the film that it turns out he was putting it on though he'd convinced his wife. I do remember thinking I couldn't believe how different he looked with hair (which is why I thought it might be Statham) or was it the other way round, he might have had short hair. Imagine Bruce Willis with long hair.
The bad guys kept following him to make sure he was a drunk. He got kicked out by his wife but he had to do it that way to keep her safe and keep up the pretence.
It has all the hallmarks of a Statham or Van Damme movie but there was no Van Dammery.

Homefront is a great film but not the one.
I bough Hummingbird thinking it might be the one but it wasn't. It had another name as well I think.
That leaves Down and Out but it's not it either. Not sure that hair length is much of a clue but I had thought Street Kings but nope, not that either.

It's been bugging me for about two months, every now and then I look for his films hoping to drop lucky.

I have it my mind it is Bruce Willis cos he would look so weird in long hair.
I think he comes out of the bar and gets a good slapping but that could be wrong.
