Used Cars in the UK - where to buy was created by wilku
I do not live in the UK, but I sometimes go there for business and I was wondering if I could buy a used Jimny and then come back with it to Poland. So I started googling for a good website with used cars offers, but I can't find anything reasonable. So - what is your first choice when you want to look for a used Jimny on-line?
And I mean a dirt-cheap, almost "dead" one, as I'd like to use it as a spare-parts repository. This also leads to the second question: when I buy a car in the UK is it somehow noted in any state administration, that *I bought* it? Or is it just noted that the previous owner *has sold* it? I've heard that it is possible to sell a car in the UK with no buyer's data on a contract - is that true?
I am asking as it is not really legal to dismantle a car on your own in Poland.

would have thought eBay was your best bet
as for how to complete the log book that we have in the uk you could go on the DVLA website and see if there is any information on there about taking the car out of the uk.

If you purchase and are completing the DVLA documentation, simply mark it as "exported"
www.gov.uk/taking-vehicles-out-of-uk/for-12-months-or-more
Or get the seller to agree to mark it as scrapped. However driving it away would be technically not legal as it should be carried on a trailer at this point.
If you do carry it on a trailer then cover the number plates. This is not due to any legal issues as its perfectly legal to scrap a car and carry the "remains" around on a trailer. Its just that the automatic number plate reading cameras cannot distinguish between a car being driven on the road and one being carried on a trailer and you (or the original owner will get nasty letters and fines for driving a vehicle that is scrapped (uninsured, not taxed etc.)

OK, thanks!
So you're saying you have no specialised country-wide on-line marketplace for used cars? Like autotrader.de / mobile.de, and the likes? Interesting

As Daniel says, you said you wanted a nearly dead one. Dealers do not deal in such cars as they are so low value.
Ebay or Autotrader or even Gumtree
