Suppliers include people "breaking for spares" on a regular basis, when purchasing spares members should ask a supplier what they contribute to the running of the forum

As far as I know the R72's from around 2010 and later are not prone to failure. And the only difference I know of is the bearings with seals on the sides. So it would be smart to change the old open bearings on your R72 before they fail. After failure they most likely crush the gears and is a write off.

My current R72 is of the later model and have the closed bearings. Here they are impossible to find at breakers as sales figures for later model jimnys are down to just a few after 2010, and with all the 05-08 boxes failing the later ones all get sold the moment they appear at a breaker.

I put the best part of 120000 miles on my factory updated 2011 one. I changed the oil once at about 80k and it was clean as you like, of the 120k probably half was with a full 1300kg trailer on the back and all of the 120k was either farm work or being beaten to death as a fast road car, it was given no mercy. Didn't bar an eye. The rear diff might have needed help but the gearbox was fine.

Like said before try James
If no look their Richard Fox for adapter plate and next week lamberts engineering will be up and selling again....
Are you wanting R7ME and manual transfer to lower your gearing for bigger tyres
Or just because people say R7ME boxes are better
I've got R7ME and this one like the one before it both are leaking oil from output shaft. New seal works for a few months, so I believe output shaft bearings need to be replaced.
So if you're not wanting the change in gearing I would say rebuild the R72.

My Jimny is 2004 so R7ME is standard for me
