Following a series of losses in the post (particularly to the South Yorkshire area - perhaps the Post Office runs a fleet of Jimnys?) I have switched to "Signed For" delivery for most items as this gives me (and you!)increased protection against losses, therefore most items have increased price by £1 to cover the signed for costs.
I am not VAT registered as I am not big enough. This means I pay VAT on everything I buy but then do not charge a separate VAT element on everything I sell. Stock that I currently have was bought at a VAT rate of 17.5% and will not change price until I re-stock when you will see marginal price increases to reflect the new VAT rate.

That's not a problem for me, Martin.
Re: Losses to South Yorkshire.
I'm there and so far received a 1st class posted package that has taken 9 days to arrive! And when I say arrived, I mean I had to queue at 0650 one morning for almost an hour to pick it up from the main sorting office here in Barnsley.
The sight of the staff filling their vans with 'FRAGILE' marked packages by tossing them to the back of the van. The 'KEEP UPRIGHT' fresh flowers all laid on their sides in their now damp/soaked boxes.
I digress!
Another packet by 1st class, a DVD, so far has taken 8 days and no sign of it!
So yes, good idea to go 'signed for' delivery.

I've always found your bits to arrive in double quick time here in Essex Martin!
It's like you rush straight out to the post office the moment the order comes in and send it out!
I can understand why you have to change though.
