Full breather kits

anybody know what was wrong with the kit from Martin as I need to fit these myself and I want to do it soon..

Guys,

I am at a bit of a loss on what to do on this.

There was an issue on a pair of Australian Jimnys where the gearbox breather seems to have melted in some way.

Previously I had no other bad reports.

I have kindly been sent some measurements that seem to show the boxes do not normally get too hot.

Previous experience with "hosepipe" based breathers would seem to show that heat is not a problem as surely these would fail as well?

The failed parts have a certified rating of 80 deg C

I have the part for the kits, I just cannot find suitable connectors rated above 80 deg.

There is another set out on test at the moment.

I could sell you just an axle set which is definitely not affected or a full set at your own risk

Could the fact be that oz is 20+ degrees hotter than sunny old uk?

Also the 2 that had the problem in oz, were they the same person that had them or same place? We're they fitted incorrectly ? How many kits have you sold? If you've only sold 4 kits that's not a good % fail rate but if you've sold 50, 100 or more that's an acceptable rate of fail, but I do think that it's either the temp in oz or incorrect fitting or both. How much is a full kit please. And what's the difference in the new kit and when will it be ready?

If they are melting then either the parts are incorrectly rated or it really is getting hotter than you think.

I could image in the heat of the day in Oz the transmission tunnel must really get hot. The heat will rise to the top of the tunnel and get trapped, especially if the Jimny has just been on a long journey (Oz being big, that's quite likely).
