Well my hosting company, 1and1, and Paypal are still working on the issue and seem to be in no hurry to fix the issue.

It seems ludicrous that they can make changes, disconnect users and affect their income and yet not be able to quickly fix the issue. I have run my own scripts that show the 1and1's internal DNS does not resolve Paypal addresses at the moment. This, as far as I am concerned, is a simple quick fix even if they bodge it into "etc/hosts".

Anyway, Cubecart who produce the shopping software have assisted me, even though their software is not at fault, and they have enabled me to run a backup copy of the store on another hosting service.

This is now up and running. THere may still be the odd glitch so bear with me. Also SSL is not working during the early ordering process although it works fine when you get to the payment gateway. This is because I cannot move my SSL certificate to the new hosting service easily. Thanks to Al at Cubecart for sorting this out for me.

Sorry to hear that Martin... fully sympathise that at times we are completely in the hands of our hosting companies...

I've had my store down a few times over the years and it is very infuriating...!

Hope you're soon back to normal...

Is that a CCv5 store they've set you up? All credit to Al @ CC ! B)

The change to Cubecart 5 came through some of the early diagnosis when we thought it was caused by a change by the hosting company to a different version of PHP. That was a change I made, not Cubecart.

What Cubecart have done is allow me to run the store with two registered domain names (which normally would mean two paid licences). This means both my main domain name and the temporary domain name of the new hosting company are valid for the store.

Its the slowness of the repair process that get me, all I get is "we are still working on it" emails. So far its cost me for the CC5 upgrade and the new hosting service without considering the loss in sales.

Hmm, yes, I went through a server upgrade a couple of weeks ago, and closed the store overnight as they were upgrading both the PHP and MySQL versions, so I expected havoc to say the least... It was due to be at ten, so I closed the store at nine... By eleven it was all done, and luckily it worked straight away.

But I was bricking it thinking what a mess it could have been...
