Rear shock absorber brackets

We have the first BigJimny product - a Rear Shock Bracket....



These new brackets are designed to:

1. Add a new dimension of rotation to improve the shock absorber operation

2. Create an adjustable position to ensure the shock absorber does not foul the springs.

3. Move the shock absrober up out of harms way

4. Provide an extra inch of length to the shock absorber.

I have the recovery point here, it just needs some M10 bolts in order for it to be ready. Once I get the bolts then you can come over and be my tester

Martin and fellow Big Jimny Forumers,
i am also using this rear shock absorber bracket set up on my jimny..
It will indeed improve the way the rear abosorbers pivots when the axle travels. :laugh:
This is an improvement over stock mounts!


This is another trick i did to prevent the bolt from coming loose all too often.
I drilled all the way tru the original shock mount hole at the axle.
Fit in a long long bolt and it's a better way to securing the shock.I took a photo of my setup and post it soon to better explain.It may not be a new trick,but it'd be great to share with new jimny owners here who's rear shock comes loose real quick!!
Notice also the Taniguchi Panhard Rod correction bracket mount.

A through bolt.....



And to prevent 'fouling' of absorbers/springs,it can be solved with x4 castor correction bushes at the rear trailing arms..this will work wonders for the prop shafts angle too!

Lookinhg good.
Our new Shock mounts arrived on saturday and I have to say, Martin, the quality is superb.

Fitting took about 20 minutes and Jason opted to use the offset brackets giving the most distance from the mount. this then gives us 5mm or clearance between the body cross member and the shocker on the nearside.

Cannot wait to give it a try off road, Jason fitted the bolts back onto the lower mount point using an impact wrench so I hope these donot work loose (he has just bought a pillar drill too, so I have a feeling ne may be making a few modifications of his own to incorporate split pins on all his nuts now!!)

I understand the principle behind the Panhard rod correction bracket (a level panhard rod maximises the amount of flex in the axle in direction, a non-level rod means the axles flexes more in one direction and less in the other). However, in practice do you notice a real improvment, if there is a really noticeable benefit I will add them to my portfolio of parts.

Hello Martin,

suspension articulation largely depends on the springs and long stroke absorbers/control arms/links for improved offroad use.Where else this Taniguchi panhard rod relocation bracket is to reinforce the panhard rod when the entire weight of the rig is leaning onto her side during offroading.
I cant really relate to improvement in articulation but i do understand that harsh lateral movement can cause and ensue panhard rod failure.I have twisted 2 so far on the front end! :huh:
The sole idea is to have it as horizontally straight as possible even for the front end.
Maybe your explanation does make sound reasonings..I will bring it up a RTI ramp and compare with fellow jimnys!

No. These brackets are only for the rear. The front is different, although, I suppose you could space the top of the shock .. Hmmmmm I wonder .....

You can space the top of the shock and Bits4Vits does these for the Vitara. I don't know what the top fitting of the Vit shock is like compared to the Jimny, but they could be the same.
