Access Engine Mount Bolts? was created by sss360
Hi All,

I need to replace my oil pan (it's started to weep on the LHS) but am struggling to access the mount bolts. I have some socket extensions but the bolts just won't budge.

I've sprayed some penetrating fluid on the bolts but does anyone have any tips on how to remove them? I'm just trying to jack the engine up my 10mm to give me a little more room to replace the pan below.

Cheers,

James

Are you allowing the axle to droop away by supporting the car on the actual chassis, I have found it gives enough room for most jobs? Taking the wheels off helps too as the chassis doesn't have to be so high up for the axle to clear.

Also I have a little hex drive impact screwdriver gun that with nut drivers is good for small bolts in small spaces without just shearing them off.

I have not but will give that a go to see how much room I can squeeze out of it. Thank you for the suggestion!
