It's a bit've a bugger trying to find the perfect battery for a Jim, as the factory battery is so dinky.

We have been fitting Odyssey PC1200's and they fit and work extremely well.

A couple of mods will be needed tho...
- bin the factory plastic battery tray
- fab/fit a battery strap
- fit larger terminals if your Jim has small ones.

For Winching, the red top is far better than the yellow top.
A pretty well known (around europe) Danish 4x4 team and shop, Team Bertelsen, have tested twin red tops and yellow tops against each other on same setup. The red tops performed far better.

As I wrote earlier, get a red top. Better for winching.

I have one of those Japanese fitment yellow tops in my Jimny. They are a direct replacement and seem to work fine. For occasional winching they are good, if you wanted one for a challenge vehicle then the ORA would be better. Optima yellow tops are recommended for both winching and starting, red tops for starting only, they are not a deep cycle battery.

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15

Well, deep cycle or not.
I know these guys have been testing this, since it is a common discussion among 4x4-enthusiasts, red or yellow top. And the red top was the better one for winching, simply because winching requires a relatively short burst of massive amps, which the red top is better at than the yellow top.
