SJ Brakes

Guys. I'm really sorry to ask another SJ based question but the calipers are well and truly sealed and I need to order a seal kit so I can do a refurb. The problem I have is I dont know what model the brakes are from to order a seal kit, the cylinder bore is 51mm. Any ideas anyone.

I was also contemplating cutting the backplate where it folds around the disc as it seems to be terrible for holding mass quantities of mud. Will this be detrimental to the brake system.

Martin, I have just been looking on the net and it appears that the Lucas caliper piston is only around 23mm diameter, whereas the Aisin model is what I have with 51mm diameter piston. I wonder also if I am correct in assuming that the SJ Aisin model is the same as the early Jimny calipers and is interchangeable. I have a spare set of Aisin Jimny calipers from my original front Jimny axle and will try to see if this fits the SJ axle in place of the old SJ calipers tomorrow.

I had odd calipers on my old 410. The guy at my local dealers was good enough to order the microfische from Suzuki to find out which was the correct one to order the other side to match. I had sheared the bolt off in the caliper and it was seized.
Once i knew the right one the first call i made was to KAP to see if they had any 2nd hand knocking about, Darren advised that Jimny ones bolt straight on.

Yeah its good to know if they are interchangeable cos id much rather use the Jimny ones, also it means I probably wont need to order a seal kit since they were in reasonably good nick
