Cheap front wheel bearings on EBAY was created by Cider
Hi
I`ve brought a set of wheel bearings off ebay and they are the taper roller type
so I`ve sent them back. Has anyone one tried with any success fitting this tpye of bearings

Cheers
Pete

They can't fit, but you know that already. ;)

The jimny uses what we used to call a cassette bearing; the outer race is one piece and the inner race is split, with a tiny gap. When you wazz the hub nut on, the gap closes up and preloads the bearing.

To fit the tapers, you would need to turn a spacer ring for the outers to fill in the gap between them, then use a crush spacer between the inners to preload the bearings, like a diff pinion.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
