stuck in 3rd but gear stick feels free

so the jimnys broken again!

my cars stuck in 3rd, but my gear stick feels disattached to my gearbox, it says i'm in neutral but i still have drive,

any ideas?

check where the linkage steady connects to the gear box, there is a bolt that goes through a rubber bush and it has a habit of falling out, usually it just makes the change sloppy but worth a look.

How would i get to this, from undernearth of through from the level?

Underneath in front of the transfer box and above the mini prop from gearbox to transfer box

does this mean removing it from the car?

No. You can get your hands up. The bolt is 10mm or 12mm I think. There is one on the steady and one on the rod that actually does the changing.

The whole remote change assembly can be removed and still leave the gearbox in but you shouldn't nne to do this if the bolt has simply come loose or fallen out,

right well its currently chucking down

i'll have a look in the morning hopefully its just an easy fix as that!

Its turns out the gear boxs rubber mount had perish, so not to bad of a fix,

All sorted!
