Best is going to depend on what plans YOU have for the vehicle, how do YOU plan to use it.

What's best for me, might not be what's best for you.

So - how do you plan to use the vehicle? Daily driver? "Light" off roading? Beach fishing? "Tough" tracks?

I'd say no modifications required, but some sort of rust proofing would be a good idea.

Agreed, the Australian climate might be kind to Jimnys but seawater isn't.

Hi and welcome

Probably some off-road tyres unless it has these already.

I am not sure how practical a Landy V6 or V8 will be to fit, I would imagine quite difficult to do, there is a lot to swap and you would need to make up engine mounts etc, even if the Landy engine will fit in the bay.

Hi and welcome

Guess it really depends how much you like modding!? Personally a small lift and some bigger/more aggressive tyres will get you started, then go from there.

I've never heard of a V6 or V8 Landy swap - I would have thought either would be physically too big, too heavy and likely screw everything else in the drive line up - so unless you'd want to change gearbox, axles, etc, I'm not sure it would make any sense even if it did fit. Basically you'd be better off just building a cut down Landy?

I have heard of people fitting V6 Vitara engines, but even that's a lot of work and again I think would need some serious driveline upgrades. I'm sure someone will chime in that knows more on this one!

Good luck either way.
