The KAP ones are a nut 'n' bolt ground up rebuild.....11/60 wrote: Hi, typically I have just nicely got the Jimny to where i am reasonably happy with it and BOOM! Management have taken it into their heads that a pickup conversion is the best idea in the world. It strikes me as a not unreasonable idea as it would afford more farm friendly serviceability from the back. It will absolutely not be one on the monster floatation tyres, it would be my nice road biased one but with a flat bed. I am being very cautious about the idea. Am I right to be apprehensive or should I be grasping the opportunity with both hands?
I'm not familiar with the cost of typical farm atv/utv/mule type vehicles but I suspect that a landmaster is of similar value a lot more comfortable and just as useful.
Assuming the KAP ones have been properly rust proofed, I feel they represent reasonable value

Wouldn't you get more in a trailer?

That's an interesting proposal11/60 wrote: I think the plan is to convert mine rather than buy a rebuilt one.
Assuming you personally own the vehicle and agree to the conversion I'd insist on getting it done by someone that's experienced with doing that type of conversion. Anything less may negatively effect the value of the vehicle.

That's a stupid amount of money for what is essentially a tiny pick-up bed conversion and wide wheels.
As already suggested, I'd use the money on a proper pick-up instead. Hilux, Amarok or such.

I agree with you about it being really quite expensive but so are its competitors, a new John Deere Gator isn't far off the same money with the cost of the donor. Im not sure it's an expense we as a family farm should be exposing ourselves to, it's a lot of sheep to sell just for a new toy.

Yes i would and indeed frequently do, but having a trailer on isn't always practical especially in winter when I don't drive on the land to avoid making mess.
