Could it be that I have driven 4x4s for so many years - like 35yrs - that I have never had the problem this article describes. Do you car drivers find the Jimny is a lot quieter than regular cars?

i can see what they mean, of all the cars/4x4's/van's ive had (30+ all told), the quietest have always had larger tyres and independent suspension/chassis construction. My jim is regularly commented on by passengers as to how quiet it is (unless im on the loud pedal)

Its a complicated question. My Jimny is generally quiet apart from its mud tyres.
My old shogun was good for road noise but it was on 15" wheels with 31" tyres.
My civic is the Type S GT, lower and stiffened on its suspension with 17" alloys on 225/40/17 tyres.
Its very quiet unless you are at higher revs using the V-tec.

Yeah, I fully expected and up to date car to be as quiet as it gets but I am amazed at the noise.

How many Dbs do you have with the music blaring?
I checked the wheel bearings for any signs of a problem today and nada.
