Hi
I have a 2001 Jimny with the M13AA engine. I have been putting E5 petrol as I did not wish to risk E10. The price differential at my local petrol station used to be 5p a litre more. Now its gone all the way up to 19p a litre more.
Can I use E10? or perhaps E10 for one tankful followed by E5 and so on.
Any advice?
Many thanks
John

There was a thread on here about 18 months ago, I think everyone concluded that E10 is fine in all Gen3 and Gen4 Jimnys and there is little advantage in using E5 other than because it is more expensive the petrol is usually better filtered and has better additives.
Certainly my 2011 Jimny and my other car (2001 Porsche) only get E10, with no problems at all.

As Robin said Jimnys are fine to run on E10. Some say they see better performance/mpg using E5. If I leave the car sitting for a while then I put in E5 but when in daily use and filling up every week I put E10 in.

If you are in the UK, then also note E5 is higher octane and normally has better/more additives. Hence the 'super' in the name. Higher octane is better for turbo charged engines or old school tuned engines.
I've not been able to tell any noticeable difference running my Gen 4 on superunleaded. Although I have on other vehicles.
Likewise, when 95RON became E10, I also have not noticed any change in performance or mpg. I have tracked both using various apps.

E10 will make your boat explode and the earth is flat and Trump is the best president of all time.
Jokes aside I have not tried very hard, but have not found any scientific or well documented resource on any trusted web page on this.
That could be because no one bothers or that there is no research or no real problem with the E10 fuel.
Just to try, my 1984 SJ 410 is sat in storage full of the E10 and will be started every 6 weeks or so. Also my Honda out board 40 hp is E10 only and is in the boat house until easter.
The storage of E10 and ability to cope with condensation is my only worry.
And my 05 jimny only get E10 and here it is minus 5 one day and plus 5 the next so ideal for condensation.
