You have a very nice Jimny, congratulations for using it so much :)

Could you detail a bit on the steps needed to change the oil seal ? it seems proper replacement is quite a challenging topic even for Suzuki shops (read here for example) and I'd like to change it on my own.

you need a impact wrench for the first nut ( if not impact wrench, impossible to unscrew )

then, screw a wood screw in the oil seal ( not easy ) and pull very hard on it.

And place the new oil seal and drive it straight

It looks as if your friend with the SJ has a road legal car with an external roll cage. I thought they weren't allowed in France - so have put an internal in my Jimny, and had an internal in my SJ as well!

Good off roading where you are - we had a good couple of days in the Cevennes last weekend. Very rocky and hilly, but good fun.

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15

hi,
my friend with the SJ ( with an external roll cage) use it "only" in off road.

My bowls were dry lately. The grease was gone ..... So I returned today, with good marine grease that is resistant to water

[IMG

I first disassembled seal bowl (to put lots of grease and grease behind the seal again)

[IMG

and then removed the pin on it to grease in it, I hope that lubricate the bearing pivot foot:

I think I'll buy radius arm with corrected angle in off road armory and then put silentblocks Original of Suzuki, it will be stronger ...
