seat belts

Hi guys. My 2001 Jimny just failed mot on a knackered drivers seat belt. It’s right hand drive. Was wondering if any of you legends know if a vitara or x90 belt might fit? Cheers for any responses. Attached a picture of me car just in case I failed to mention specific details of it. 

I had seat belts in a commercial van repaired with new webbing. It was quick and much cheaper than a new belt assembly (and much safer than buying an old, used set).

Might be worth looking into.

But is it the belt fabric webbing or the spool and return spring mechanism that is broken?
Being from Norway I am sorry for not having the second language skills to get what knackered would mean.

If the return spring is bad the belt will catch the door lock and become ragged and flimsy. Bad seat betl return is an MOT fail here.

I dismantled my complete seat belt assy with the spring and spool cleaned and lubed and adjusted and tightened the spring just to find it was great again for a week or so and then just as bad return function again.
It is like this on both sides.

And what annoys me the most is that my 1984 SJ seat belts return just fine. 40 years old. So Suzuki knew how to make these at one time..

Finding something that fits from another maybe newer Suzuki would be nice. Mine has the yellow pyro airbag activated belt tightener thing so not likely something else would fit..

Good question, I just assumed the fabric was worn out.

Knackered I think just means "worn out." It comes from the days of horses, when a knacker was someone who took dead horses away.

But I might be wrong, as I also am not a native speaker.

Yes sorry. I’m fairly sure it failed on
the webbing. I’m going to try replace the whole mechanism and belt with an x90 belt as it seems similar. I’ll let you guys know how it goes in case you need to change yours in the future. I could get the webbing fixed if the other belt mechanism doesn’t fit.

If your car have the yellow pyro actuator on the belt spool, be sure to disconnect before fiddling with it.
Not sure if it is a CO2 cannister or an explosive device :dry:
Anyways you do not want any of that to go off in your face.

Thanks for the warning haha. I saw the connector when taking the old one out and disconnected it before touching the rest. The x90 belt fits perfectly but it doesn’t have the explosive attached so hopefully it still passes MOT. I tried replying earlier but my internet died so hopefully it doesn’t post two responses. Thanks for all your suggestions guys.
