I'm after some second hand differentials, how do I tell what ratio my current ones are, and any used ones apart from counting revolutions !! Thanks

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Count the teeth.
The ratio is number of crownwheel teeth / number of pinion teeth.
They are not marked on the outside.
There is no guarantee that your current differentials are "correct" for the car either, unless you had it from brand new.

The standard ratios are as follows:
98-2005 Manual: 3.9
98-2005 Automatic: 4.1
2005 onwards (all VVT models): 4.3

From the 2014 brochure. The auto is noticeably higher-geared in top.
(Sorry, the forum software munges the image but if you can't read it, manual final drive is 4.3 and auto final drive is 4.090 BUT 4th in an auto is a significant overdrive whereas 5th in a manual is direct drive).
