Gen 3 rear seats was created by Matt H-E
Hi All,
Bit of a strange question - the rear bench seat on my ‘06 Gen 3 does not tilt, it just pulls out. My previous ‘03 Jimny had proper split folding seats. Is there a way to make the bench seat into a folder or can you retro fit tilting split seat pads?
Don’t ask why - I have reasons to want rear seats some of the time.
Many thanks,
Matt

The base of my rear seats don’t tilt, just pulls out. I don’t use the rear seats much, so made a plywood load carrier to sit over the [folded down] seats. I also made a tool box to sit in the boot, so with the load carrier it is nearly flat in the back.

The seats from 05 to 09-ish are awful. You can fit 99-04 seats that fold flat but there is lacking fasteners in the floor for the front pivot bracket for the rear seats. I put rivnuts there, not sure how it is from factory. I swapped front seats as well as the 04 all had leather here in Norway.

Yakuza - great response and idea, thank you. I think I now have a solution. I'll just have to look out for some tilting rear seat bases.
Cheers,
Matt

I recommend you swap it all. They cost me 2-300€-ish and sold the old seats for 100-ish.
this and the leather steering wheel from a 2012 is my favourite mods.
