Ive never heard of it before either but I suggest its a case of brute force and ignorance.
Ive put in some BIG manual gearboxes over the years, but if you use the clutch lining up tool and take care positioning the input shaft spline it goes in, some are tight and need long bolts on casing to start pulling it together, and a slight shake while pushing forward as you go.
What happened here was negligence from the engine reconditioners who did the removal and refit. Anyway all sorted.
