Please help with setting up my lightbar

Hello all,

I'm a complete novice and I'm in the process of setting up my new LED lightbar. I have the auxiliary lights wiring kit from jimmybits (relay, fuse, wires, diagram), as well as stuff I've picked up from Maplin (switch, crimper, insulation, cable ties). My plan is just to have the lightbar running from a switch - I'm not going to interfere with main beam etc.

What I've done so far is attach the lightbar itself, attach the relay within the engine bay and ran the earth wire from the relay, ran the power wire to the battery (but not attached it) and ran a wire from the relay to the lightbar.

My next step is to run the wire through to the dashboard and install a switch. I'd like to know what the best way is to get the wire through? Is it through the passenger side where the other wires go? And I have one wire to go to the switch, what happens to the other point on the switch? Does that just go to earth? There are also 2 wires coming from the lightbar (one of which goes to the relay). What happens to the other wire? Does that also go to earth?

Sorry for such stupid questions, I'd really appreciate any input! I'll attach photos to try to explain my rambling.

Hi, one wire from the lightbar will go to earth. one wire goes from the relay to the switch (i would run it through the passenger side as you suggest ) The other wire from the switch should go to an ignition controlled live (fused) I would also fuse the wire from the battery to the relay. Basically the relay is a heavy duty switch that is operated by the lighter duty dashboard switch :) :)

Thank you very much!

In terms of wiring the lightbar to Earth, would the bonnet itself be sufficient?

Also how do you physically put the wire through the firewall at that point?

Thanks again!

Hi. i would run the earth wire to a decent earth in the engine bay, might not be a good earth just relying on the bonnet hinges and catch

I carefully made a small hole through the rubber grommet using a circuit tester probe and fed the wire(s) through that
:) :)
