How to install a CD player in 2001 Jimny was created by Omar Brännström
Hi

Hi I have a 2001 Jimny without a cd player. There are som plastic in front, do I have to cut through the plastic and then fit a CD player or how do I do it.

I was today at a car CD player shop, they did not know ho to install it in a Jimny.

Please explain or give me some link with pictures.

Best regards from Sweden

Do you have a radio ? Can you just take the radio out and put the CD in place ?

When I changed our Jimnys CD for a trusty Tape player, all I did was remove the old unit, un hook the Barb like anchors on teh cage and remove. The wiring and ariel were unplugged, and fitting a new one was the same butin reverse ..

Hi

I did not Buy it with any radio or CD in 2001, but my girlfriend want a cd player now. There is only plastic infront and it is impossible to remove. The only way I think? is to cut in the plastic?

I mean a specialist at a car cdplayer store did not how to put in a CD player in my car.

It should have a removeble front, but it do not, strange.

Omar,

Can you get a photograph? The Jimny normally has a single DIN radio space which if you pull the panel forward is actually a double DIN fiting if needed.

Also, crawl into the footwell, and remove one of the grey side panels with the speaker grill in. (carefully lift up the door tread plate, then remove a plastic push rivet from near the front of the panel, then it slides back and out)

You are looking for a speaker fitted behind the panel.
If they are not there, any 4" (10cm) 4 hole speaker will fit.
There are no speakers in the back for sure either.

The wiring should be fitted though....

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Hi

Thanks all!

I went back to the car CD shop and let the shop install it. Never spoke with the guy how installed it but the salesman sad that is was cumbersome to install and they had to cut through the plastic frontcover to then install the player.

Sadly that cost me about 50 Euro for instalation and some cord for about 18 euro.

It might be a ripoff, but I did not know how to do it and the salesman tried to install it before but could not.

I do not understand why suzuki do not have a easely removable plastic front cover so I could install it my self, and it dosent say anything how to install in the manual.

Anyway, I bought a Pioneer Pioneer DEH-4200SD CD-radio that can take usb and SD card, very nice.

I found that the frontspeaker was good, my girlfriend and me really liked the sound.

Great!
