A colleague had 5 year GAP return to invoice on a RAV4, and managed to write it off in the 4th year, getting back the full purchase price, rather than the 50% or so it was actually worth, which means he could buy a new replacement, rather than having to buy someone's cast-off.
I bought GAP for my Gen4, which was obviously a waste of money as current market value is supposedly £8000 more than I paid- but no doubt my insurer won't pay me more than I declared I purchased it for.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

If GAP is cheap enough, and you are keeping it, in "normal" circumstances I'd say yes.Yes he’s sent me all the details about gap insurance
Is it worth taking out ? I am paying in full for the car. No finance is being used

We also took out Gap lnsurance which is now a waste of money.
You need to call your insurance and update the value. l updated ours to £28,000
While it's no guarantee that you'll get that amount in the event of a total loss, the most you'll get if you told them £20,000 is £20,000
I wasn't charged anything to update the valuation.

I used GAPinsurance.co.uk after doing much research. Return to invoice policy. Dealer quoted £399 I paid £200 by going direct.

I bought TotalLossGap, was £260 for the 5 years RTI/vehicle replacement.
Used car prices are insane at the moment across the board. They have to tank soon, maybe when the Chinese can knock out enough of the chips- industry whispers are for February/March time next year.
