When I queried this with Suzuki, I asked about galvanisation.

Their replied was that it was not galvanised but it was "electrodipped" and had the same perforation warranty of all their cars. However I have not seen a definition of what "electrodipped" is.

Don't know for certain but it sounds like an electrostatic primer process to me. Or possibly at best a pasivate process. If I were starting again with a new one i would buzzweld chassis in one it.

Thanks for your insights and thoughts. I'm not familiar with Buzzweld CIO, but will google about it and find out whether this might be another viable/cost-effective option in my area, so thanks for that suggestion Lambert. I'm quite local to Harrogate/Knaresborough/York, so would be interested to know if you've used anyone professionally in the area for this sort of thing (although it sounds like you might actually DIY your underseal?)

Ta, Jim

I'm a cynical ole boy and have trust issues with garages! I diy. Simple enough with a lifetime of tools but not for everyone!

This place in Rugby has been recommended to me by a friend with a landy.

For people considering under protection, you might find this article interesting. Enjoy:

Never tried, myself, but think I might possibly fall into the 'everyone' category there!

Other thing I want to try and source is a cargo rack for the roof . . any suggestions welcomed for possible ways to do it, but I'm not in the market for something quite as expensive as this I'm afraid....
Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack £959 ...even though it does look rather fabulous!

Thanks Andy, yep, I found their site when I was doing a bit of surfing around to find a local place ...just a shame they're not nearer to where I am

Yeah no probs. As soon as i heard you chaps talking about this under body protection i rang an old mate who lives for his land rover. Divorced funnily enough - go figure ;-) But anyways he suggested a chap in rugby (only 20 miles from me). Seems like he has tweaked the waxoyl process by 2% making for better long lasting protection from abrasion. Seems a propa passionate guy, and has lots of positive - seemingly genuine feedback.

I'm looking more into this electrodipped thingy to see what the suzi's actually have in terms of protection, but i think protecting the jim is going to pay dividends in the long run and provides firm peace of mind, so yes its defo got my interest.

I have read the entire website now, its very interesting to say the least.

I've used a number of the Buzzweld products on my Defender and been very impressed. The CIO ( Chassis In One ) is an all in one primer and top coat and works well on bare/sound rusted metal. For the Gen4 Jimny with new/sound chassis I'd probably just overcoat with Buzzweld WAR ( Wheel Arch Refinement ), which is available in various colours and can also be used inside the chassis rails similar to Dinitrol/Waxoil.

The Frontrunner roof rack is one of the best available. Here in SA, it is very popular with the guys that do overlanding trips. That is a good chunk more than we pay for them here though.

Hi Andy - just be aware that the guy near Rugby polarises opinions both for and agin'. There is a huge amount of stuff on the Web about this. Not saying he isn't good just saying he seems to be able to court controversy.

Only just seen this, had my notifications turned off.

I was going off a mates recommendation. But now you've intrigued me. Crikey! You got any links to these issues.

Cheers buddy!
