Just received a call from my dealer - my white SZ4 arrived last night. I've arranged to collect next Saturday :)

My 31st January date has now changed to 27th March.

Not happy.

I hope Suzuki aren't moving things around to suit "more important" dealer's or buyers.

I did wonder how dealers would play it:

1 Keep existing loyal customers happy
2 See new customers as a potential new loyal customer (and hope the existing loyal would remain so)
3 Play fair and do as they said they would, and contact people in the order of deposits payed

I think my dealer has done #3, as I have never had a Suzuki or bought from that dealer before. When I paid my deposit they told me I was the second one to do so.

I'm just wondering how this delivery schedule really works? Suzuki marketing team create a whole heap of hype based on unique vehicle, scarcity of supply across the globe and dealers don't discount and want deposits. Go into a few dealers, have a chat and get a fairly consistent story. Then learn quite a few folk are losing interest when they see/drive the car for real, options to purchase are rescinded, Brexit/economy is blamed and I'm suddenly offered a couple of options to purchase after folk drop off 'the list'. Then some dealers seem to get cars very quickly and others seem to be getting delayed timescales. I'm beginning to wonder if some sort of 'game' is going on. The dealer I'm using apparently doesn't know actual delivery schedules which seems strange. I'd have thought that Suzuki GB knows what Jimnys are being built to what spec, when the ships are sailing/arriving and when they get delivered from the UK arrival port to the dealer? After speaking to work colleagues involved in international supply chains and logistics - I'm not convinced that the big Suzuki computer doesn't know exactly where my Jimny is?

I too wonder if a bit of a 'game' is going on. My dealer claimed at time of deposit that I'd definitely get it before 2020. Which struck me as odd when he also told me it's on the ship and even gave me the ships name.

I got the sales guy at a dealership I was working at to check his system. He gave the same ship name, the vehicles currently on it to be delivered to dealers March.

So does the dealer I'm dealing with really not know or are they trying to take advantage of the hype, taking deposits on vehicles they know they can't get to the customer and hoping to get away with it for as long as possible.

I'll see how it goes, as much as I love the looks of the car and really enjoyed test drive if I keep getting messed around by dealers I'll just give up and maybe get one in the future when the hype dies down or not at all.

For what it’s worth, my experience is as follow: I’m a new customer, found a blue demo at a dealer about an hour away. Tried to buy it but wasn’t allowed to. Put deposit of £500 down and was told I was first on list. They had a SZ5 coming, didn’t know when or what colour. Last week they called to say they have been allocated one Silver SZ5 by Suzuki UK, which has been allocated to me.

They don’t know delivery date to them but have been told approx 5to6 weeks and will call when it arrives, there is a little doubt about delivery date but not allocation to them.

Glad I don’t need one as yet, seems like dealers are playing silly buggers or they really don’t know whats coming when. I have had similar and others to when a new model motorbike came out.
Others seemed to jump the que etc.

Providing my RX8 keeps going think I will wait until next year now, hopefully by then models more available and more choice, maybe a different engine. I just hope engine is not changed to so something less suited to jimny or less powerful etc. Was there a reason they didn’t use the more modern turbo engine?

Hi all, just signed up wanted to share my experience of buying one. I've been looking for a month or so and was fully prepared to have the 6 month+ wait for one. I'm based in South Wales so popped into the Cardiff dealer first, he said i could order one now for delivery somewhere around May if i left a £500 deposit. Visited the Bridgend dealer yesterday who said he could get a Silver SZ5 for immediate delivery, but i'm after a SZ4. So spoke to the dealer in Swansea after that he said he had a SX4 which was built and due to be shipped soon for delivery around March. So popped down there today and ordered that one!

My advice would be if you're ready to buy one now or in the next few months or so, ring around or pop into your local dealers, they are out there without the huge waiting list. Can't wait to get mine never had a Jimny before but my old man's always had them and older SJ's!

I got the no news yet from my dealer, reply was you said December or January, they have been told if its February it will get registered on 01 March. I am sure if they try a bit harder they will get an answer,.

New v old customer debate is an interesting one, I had a woeful experience with Alpine on the A110 and its pitty when their PR team have to force the intro (he is a Jimny fan)
