Hi all i am a new boy with a brand new jimny which i have promised myself for years. It has only done about 500 miles so far but i am getting a strange pulsating whine which comes in at about 40 mph if you apply power or are climbing. It sounds as if its coming from the transfer box.I have read on another web forum that this is quite common on new Jimnys and should go away after about 1000 miles or so.Has any one else had this problem, should i take it back to the dealer?
I have also read those articles about a noise from new transfer boxes. Even if you are going to wait until it subsides at 1000 miles I would still tell your dealer that the problem exists so that he has a record of it in case it get worse in the future.

Mine had it too and it went away after a while. Some 4x4's have this noise through their whole lifespan so it's probably nothing to worry about. But seeing as I can't actually hear the noise you're talking about I would consider mlines' advice
