Ah OK, so what do they use for hydro-dipping then? is similar to a two-pack paint?

That's exactly what it is...I had satin on my arches and gloss on the rear spoiler.

Essentially if you gouge through the lacquer you will mark the hydro-graphic..

Quite an expensive process as the part is first prepared and painted a base colour (which can show through the finished part for effect) then the graphic is applied....lots of rinsing then the part is sealed with lacquer...easy enough if that's your thing.
