Not sure if this one belongs in the chat or the technical section, but here goes.
As most of you by now have guessed, I live in STRAYA, which means like all Australians I have my own vast private stretch of golden beach (author's note: I may be lying about that last bit). I've read a bit about deflating tyres if you want to tear around on a public beach, running over kiddies building sand castles, etc., but I was wondering what you do when you have had enough fun and carnage, and you head back (perhaps over 100km or more - that bit isn't a joke
) on the blacktop or firm gravel road. I have a pretty powerful air pump that runs off 12/24v - I also have an RV that is essentially (and legally) a truck so the pump has to have some grunt - which would do the job of reinflating the tyres, but I have reservations.
What are your recommendations regarding deflation/inflation? Can you run a pump off the battery, or would this do a nasty to the electronics? Back when I was a young fella you carried jumper leads around in your car for self-help or to help someone else. When modern cars, with computer assistance/analysis/control systems came in, people started sucking air through their teeth if you mentioned jumper leads. I would have thought a reasonably powerful pump would have the same draw on a system as a starter motor across jump leads, so I'm a little hesitant at this point. Maybe just a bit of rookie paranoia, but I'd very much value anyone's views on this. Also any do's and don'ts on sand/beach driving would be wonderful.
Cheers,
JC.

The compressor will be fine running off the Jimny battery, as long as the engine is running.
Remember to let your tyres down before you need to (found this out the hard way at Soft Sandy beach in Peaceful bay!). Momentum is your friend. Low gear, high revs in the Jimny because soft sand saps power. Oh, and keep out of the big splashy wet bit.
Are you off to tackle the Lancelin Sand dunes now?

Might start with something a tiny bit flatter, Busta
