i once snapped a bolt in the manifold and drove my jimny across town to a friends house running only the manifold and no exhaust,
that was loud! sounded like a plane
the soundproofing? on the bulkhead was smoldering from the flames produced on the overrun!

When I bought mine, the exhaust broke away just before the cat when I was 50 miles from home. It was a noisy drive but no harm done, and the dealer sent me a new cat the next day.
