hi guys, I originally bought my jimny to take seats out and use for my dogs. Now I have to sell my motorbike so gonna start converting my jimny to have some fun with, I have a couple of questions : I would like to do a bit of off roading and I have a 2003 soft top with alloys, would you take soft top off roading ? If so do I need to change my wheels, and lastly, cheap as possible what shocks should I buy and do I need to change anything else ? Thanks a lot guys

Hello highball, welcome to this forum.
Soft-Top is strong enough for offroad if you don't intend to roll-over !
I did had the older version with clips and i did changed it to the newer version with Velcro and poppers.
That's on now for 2 years and it's still in very good condition, i don't mind some scratches on the "plastic" windows, the canvas looks still very good!
With the standard tyres you will have good fun during greenlaning, if you want to do a bit more and go trough deeper ruts than you better go for a 215/75/R15, i personally prefer the BF Goodrich KM2 or Trepador Maxxis, but there are other choices, depends what money you're willing to spend, sometimes you will find some cheap second hand on this forum.
For the shocks, i have the Trailmaster Stage II Sport 2inch-kit, springs and shocks. They cost some money but i'm very happy with them. At Big Jimny's store you can look at Rough-Country shocks.
Best thing to do is to go for a 2 inch lift kit, still OK for normal road use.
These are my personal settings, there will be certainnelly other idea's and experiences so it's up to you to find out what will be OK for you ! I wish you lot's of fun with your Jimny Cabrio... i did and still do have every day i drive with it and when the sun is shining it's even a bigger smile on my face with the top down !

The standard shocks are fine if you're not planning a suspension lift. I second Juans tyre advice. I have 215/75 R15 BFG muds and they have been fantastic. They will fit a standard jimny no problem too.
