What Tyre would you recommend? was created by irishpaddy
Lad’s I’m looking for advice when it comes to buying a new pair of boots for the Jimny.

As it stands I’ve a 3” suspension lift on front, Caster Correction, 2” Inch body lift and 32mm Wheel Spacers. The engine is a Pug 1.9 Diesel Engine with the R380 gearbox. I’ve a set of standard steel Jimny rims.

I’m looking for a tyre that would be comfortable for the road but will also be useful for field/mud/rough work. I don’t have a problem trimming the bumper. Another option would be to band the rims and get a wide tyre?

Thanks in advance for all your help guys, the forum is fantastic.

I'd get either BFG KM2 or Maxxis Trepador. Both Excellent offroad and still decent on road.

After checking the rims are only 15 X 5.5" . I was going to change them out for a set of 16" vit wheels and run 265/75 R16.

Do the vit rims work with the stud pattern without any issue?

You need the deeper and wider 16" Vitara wheels. the narrower ones with the lesser offset need wheel spacers or they foul on the track rod ends of the steering arm.

You'll want to upgrade you CV's with the torque of a diesel engine and big tyres I expect.

I have a set of 32mm spacers fitted - Will that be sufficent clearance for the Vitara rims?

The tyres I'm planning to run will be 235 85 16s in either a BFG KM2 M/T or else Maxxis Bighorns M/T. What upgrade would you suggest for the CV's?
