Help with VIN was created by happypig
I hired a jimny in Rhodes, from Avis who quote "most if our cars are under 6 months old" but the one I got I reckon is on at least it's second summer - 90000 km on it when I picked it up.
I've tried free vin decoders but I cannot get the model year ???
Is anyone able to do better ?
The vin is VSEFJB43C00207061

there is no year in vin code if 10th digit is zero. isn't year of production written in car passport?

VSE - santana build

"Santana broke its relations with Suzuki in 2009 and since then it no longer made any Suzuki car under license"
does santana even builds jimnys anymore?

In 2011 the owner of the company, the Government of Andalusia, decided to close the Santana Motor company and its car factory and 1,341 people were laid off or retired prematurely.[1][9] From 6,692 cars made in 2007, the company manufactured 1,197 in 2009 and no more than 769 in 2010.

so last cars produced by santana motors are from 2010/2011

The VIN standard does not define a character for the year of manufacture, that only applies in the US where they have requirements additional to the VIN standard.
I agree with the others, if it has a VSE* VIN then its at least four years old.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Just to update, I had a look in the glove box and in the wallet with the manual was a document that seemed to suggest it was new in 2009.
I'll probably get nowhere but I'm going to try and get some money back for them renting me a rather knackered car.

Underpowered, uncomfortable, thirsty, slow, why on earth would I miss it ? Apart from the fact that every time I drove it made me smile...

Definately thinking of getting another one sometime...

It all depends what my lad decides to do after he passes his test; if he wants to keep driving then I'm probably going to end up financing him to a degree (if only with his first years insurance) and might well get rid of the Wagon & get another jimny for us to share (in addition to my CR-V).

Here's an interesting question for you all though :

Why am I making a fuss about being charged for 44.9 litres of petrol by Avis to refill the Jimny I hired in Rhodes ?
