First Jimny - Building for Off Roading was created by dmccluney
Hey guys, first post, first Jimny and thought id say hello instead of lurking and reading.
Been in to off roading for a good few years, mainly RTV's using Land Rovers but always fancied a Jimny for a go.
Bought this around a month ago and finally getting round to doing a few bits to it.
Moved her in to the garage during the week
Got her jacked up, wheels off and ready for some modding.
This arrived on Friday so let the fin commence
Set about stripping the old suspension out of it today and fitted the new front springs and shocks
Also stripped the old front soft top off as the frame is rotten, have a replacement for it but not sure if ill use it or fabricate a hard top for it.
Removed the anti roll bar today to then set about creating a template to make a transfer box guard from
That was todays work, I have a pallet of bits arriving on Tuesday including rear shock relocation brackets, fuel tank guard, extended braided brake pipes, wheels and tyres and a few spares. Looking forward to getting it all together and out for a play!
Other things to do, front and read tough bumpers (or however you describe them), front winch, fabricate some transfer box mounts. Im going to need some advice so will be posting some questions as I come up against things!
