When Rover introduced the SWB Land Rover back in 1953 it had a wheel base of 2185mm. The current Jimny wheel base is 2250mm (which is 50mm shorter than a Fiat 500).

Not wanting to be pedantic, well yes actually, the original Land Rover was introduced in 1948 and the wheel base was 80 inches. The first design was made using a Willys Jeep chassis and axles, and was centre steer.
Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15

The Jimny has a surprisingly long wheelbase for its size, it 2" longer than a SWB Vitara.
Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

In the late 60's a popular mod to increase the track without using spacers on Stock Cars was to reverse the rim on the centres. The inset became the offset and vice versa.
The centres of steel wheels in those days had flanges which had rivets and a short bead weld to hold them in place.

I was talking to a guy in Halfords car park on Monday. He was driving his Land Rover which was 53 years old - makes that the 60's.

So if a disco 1 is 2700 gvw n I passed after 97 can I tow 800kg or 750kg with unbraked trailer.

As long as your plated gross train weight does not exceed 3500kg. Just do your B+E, I could not live without mine!
