Hi all,
I've just bought a Jimny for use at work and thought that I'd better pop in and say hello. This is the first that I've owned or driven, but I'm not new to off-road vehicles/driving. In the past I've driven an L200, Series 3 Landy, Defender 90, Jeep Grand Cherokee and a few road cars off-road.
I got to use it off-road the day after I drove it home, and every day since. I'm very impressed with the Jimnys abilities so far, though I'm only having to deal with compacted sand at the moment, mud will be the real test. I've had a fair load inside and it felt good. The only niggle is the noise when cruising home on the road...but I can live with that. It does make me wonder why some buy them for exclusive road use though!
I'll attach a couple of pictures for you. It looks pretty good, but it's a little bit rough running and rough underneath. I plan to do some fluid changes, new spark plugs, new battery and alternator soon, to sweeten it up a little. It's got a sloppy clutch thrust bearing too, which I imagine wont be too hard to sort. I can't wait for some days off so that I can have a real poke around underneath and start planning other jobs. Great to see so many customised ones here, very inspirational.

If you take the back seats out altogether like this, you'll be able to get the digger in there as well

I plan to remove the rear seats tonight. Longer-term, I want to panel it out. I'm working 12 hour days, 10 on, 4 off at the moment...tricky to fit things in!

Welcome along!
Is the noise on the road from the tyres? You can tell the difference when you swap between H/Ts & A/Ts.

No, just the general engine and transmission noise. 3500 revs at 60mph, 4000 revs at 70mph! I'm just too used to my other vehicle I suppose, a petrol auto Mercedes. I've been doing the dual carriage way cruise at 55mph to lessen the pain a bit hehe.
