Are the face lifted/newer Jimny's very noisy?

I think I'm getting there in really liking the Jimny as a new car choice for the next year or two but on a couple of YouTube videos I could hear a pretty loud 'electrical sounding' noise which I've only really heard other cars do when reversing at speed. Is this noise heard much? Or if it is sometimes, what causes it? Is it just the age of the engine design showing?


It would be a Shame if the noise really was loud or old sounding but I look forward to your replies. This forum has been great with my questions so far and I appreciate your time.

I don't know what you mean by this electrical noise but I have a 2013 Jimny and she's as quiet as one thing unless ya giving it a bit to much throttle, but that goes with any car really (Except hybrid?).

I brought my Jimny late last year as a new car and as my only car and have never looked back. The DOHC engines are perfect and not as slow as what the older Jimnys are. I have a 5 year warranty aswell so who can complain with that?
My Brother has just brought a Nissan X Trail and his warranty is only 3 years.

Maybe he means transmission noise as he mentions you only usually hear it in reverse.

Are you watching youtube vids of the jimny off road as they could be in low range? Which you do get abit more transmission whine.

So the noise is just like most cars? I was thinking that if I ever started it at night I'd be waking people up lol I'm planning to save and buy a new Jimny so I've got a million questions on them due to the fact they're basically '98 models. I'm glad to hear from you though as someone who has also bought one new. That's a good warranty by the sounds of it.

All these random questions SB1500! Get yourself down to a dealership and take one for a test drive. You can research as much as you want but no amount of internet knowledge will be the same as driving one.

I know, I apologise if I'm annoying anyone. But so far what I've learnt still makes me want one! I figured everyone on here would be the best to ask!

I'm only getting my license this summer. But please don't overlook me for that! I've got half saved for what an SZ4 Jimny would cost (that's my target).

Though I have a feeling the dealer wouldn't take me on unless I said I was looking to buy within a month.

In fact, went down to the one in Campsie, Northern Ireland (near me) and the place was full of Grand Vitara's and SZ4's
I've seen three Jimny's so far over here, which is a shame!
