Hi guys, newbie here. Decided i'd trade my Panda in for something else while it still had some value to it and always had a soft spot for the jimny, and the fact my dad has just bought a Grande Vitara in the same colours kinda swayed me, i'll have it.

I know i paid top money for it, but with such low miles on her i don't mind. I don't plan to mod the car, but the plan is to fit a new roof after this winter (probably the monsoon one, suggestions?) and maybe add a couple of accessories. I made sure i knew what i was looking at on here before i bought the car, looks like it's a good'n.. so thanks guys. I always search before asking, learnt that the hard way on other forums.. but sorry in advance if i miss something. My user name is what i use on all forums, goes back to my Fiat 126.. i've had a lot of fiats. :blush:

Panda to Jimny is a good move if you want a decent little 4x4, for what you get 4x4 panda's are still silly money and can't offer what the Jimny can. My pic with two Jimny's in is at work, i had it for my first day and saw on my lunch there was another parked there, must be a colleague as it's always around.

i wouldnt fit a new roof till we have hot weather as it makes fitting easyer and you have to leave it up for a while to settle in thats what i found with mine and some one else i no fitted it in the winter ansd it was hard going

Joined bigjimny as all the other forums seemed a bit clinical, i like friendly forums.
Dad picked up his Vitara today, i'll try and get a pic or two with them together, it looks quite amuzing :lol:

I still have another panda, a mk2 panda colour that i want to get on the road.. at 14 i had a G reg panda 4x4, didnt do much to it but doubled my money :evil:

Jimny reminds me so much of my dads old SJ410, just in much better nick :laugh:

Thanks for that, makes sense. I was just thinking the current roof is tatty, but not leaking yet. I'll take your advice made my mind up now, going for the monsoon one.. not the fastback.

there both as nice as each other but if you have a fastback roof thers not a lot of head room in the back and its easyer to take it of in the sumer

I love the idea of the fastback, i understand the foldaway roof is quick and easy to takedown too? I'm just thinking of rear passengers. If that wasnt an issue, i'd go for the fastback

Maybe over time i'll buy both and fit them when it suits

Welcome to BIG JIMNY Nathan126.
The Monsoon soft top is a great bit of kit it easy to fit and come with good fitting instructions and as markyp2000 said don't fit the top in the winter, if you haven't got some were inside that's warm to fit it.
And you can fold the back down in about 90 seconds with a bit of practise.
