STOCK JIMNY - what to do.

HELLO ALL!
I'M TURNING 17 AT THE END OF AUGUST, AND HAVE BOUGHT A JIMNY FOR MY FIRST CAR AS I LIVE IN THE FENS OF CAMBRIDGESHIRE AND I'M VERY INTO SHOOTING AND FISHING.
YEAH, I'M STARTING YOUNG IN THE JIMNY CLUB!!

HOWEVER, BEING A STUDENT I'M VERY LOW ON MONEY AND MECHANICAL ABILITY! SO I'M LOOKING FOR SOME CHEAP SOLUTIONS TO MODIFYING MY JIMNY, AS MY BEST FRIEND WILL BE GETTING INSURED ON HIS DADS LANDY 90 ONCE HE'S PASSED..
OBVIOUSLY BIG TOYS ARE NO WALK IN THE PARK AND THEY'RE NOT EASY ON THE OL' WALLET..

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW I CAN IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE AND/OR APPEARANCE OF MY STOCK JIMNY (UNDER MY CIRCUMSTANCES..)
I BASICALLY NEED TO MAKE IT LOOK MEANER.. MORE MANLY, AS MANY HAVE SAID IT'S A (DARE I SAY IT) HAIRDRESSERS CAR.

'MONSTER' STICKERS JUST DON'T SEEM TO CUT IT.

Leave it as it is apart from good tyres, get out and find out what its capable of in standard trim. Save your money for repairs and running it. I know someone who used his for shooting totally standard, road tyres the lot! He never had any trouble.

Invest in some good tyres and recovery gear before any mods IMHO.

As with all modifying one mod highlights another area's weakness ie lifting it allows bigger rubber, then you'll need to cut the arches and bumpers, taller tryes will ruin the gearing so you'll need to alter the transfer box......etc etc

Mines the families 2nd car and my daily driver i can't afford to keep spending on it, i'd love a lift and crawler box etc... but can't justify it as it is. And in all honesty i've yet to find a real need for it.

Where abouts in Cambs are you, i'm in Peterboghorror.
You can't be far from 3 Holes near Outwell, i've yet to take mine there but i've been several times before with others. Its worth doing pay and play days so you can learn how to drive in different conditions and know you can be recovered.

We've got some good sites round here, Stainby, Tixover, Yarwell, 3 holes.

I LIVE IN WILLINGHAM.. (BETWEEN CITY CENTRE AND ST.IVES) I COULD DRIVE DOWN THE LANES AND MUD TRACKS LEADING TO THE FIELDS I SHOOT, BUT THAT'S AS GOOD AS IT GETS!

Ah Willingham, in which case Wildtracks in Newmarket is close to you. Another site i've yet to try.

I wouldn't be too worried about the oily bits, they're reasonably basic. If you wanted lights wiring up a good auto sparks shouldn't charge too much. I'm mounting some on a roofrack myself.

Once you've got your licence out of the way you'll be more than welcome to tag along to a pay and play day.
I'm just getting the time to get out to them again.
