My husband usually drives as I tend to bottle out on some of the steeper slopes and water crossings.
Regarding weight, we have found that with nice agressive MT tyres, the jimny is sure footed and, as long as they can dig nice and deep, will haul the lightweight Jimny through most conditions. the biggest problem we have experienced is lack of axle articulation. particularly when driving through boggy ground and as lightweight as it may be, the jimny just digs itself to the axle's and needs a little assistance to get out.
That goes too for some of the more challenging deep rutts we have encountered. The width of the track isnt big enough to ride in the rutts made by landrovers and, you usually have to adopt a one side in / one side out approach or try and balance ontop of each rutt.
