Fitted My Winch Bumper!!!

I got this bad boy from the Off Road Armoury.
Very substantial piece of kit.
I am expecting my winch to arrive late next week to fill the gap!!

mine does the same

I also have the rhino ray springs and they should settle and soften up just nicely. mine have been in for about a year now and they're spot on now. i do trials in the little jimny and people regularly comment on how well it flex's. stick with it they're great springs. a couple of my mates had the red kap springs and they've both replaced them with RR

Mine have been in for well over a year now!!

i like the sound if that, ive got front RR springs in just now but will be upgrading the full lift soon.

Hi all, need bit of advice on this winch bumper

i was thinking on buying the same one

what are the disadvantages

how heavy is it, does it make it fail its MOT (i have heard that any whinch bumper makes a jimny to heavy, is it true?)
is it easy installation
does it effect the air bag/s in any way?

As far as I am aware you should not have trouble with the MOT on a pre-2007 car. Certainly my 2003 Jimny with a large winch bumper on it has no problems, however I get an advisory each year stating that I have a winch and winch bumper fitted!

The airbags on modern cars are computer controlled from a self-contained unit under the centre console so there are no impact sensors etc up at the front of the car. So its not likely to be affected.

Mine is certainly heavy when combined with the winch and I have uprated springs to stop things sagging.

If I remember correctly the ORA winch bumper consists of some weld-on brackets onto which the main bumper then bolts

Yes you need to weld this bumper on, There is a fair bit of weight
in it but i dont have any probs!!!

Ahhhh the MOT issue, Well, Ill let you know soon as its off for its
1st MOT next week it's a 57plate so we will see!!!!

However the guy from Blood Red Offroad looked into the legislation regarding
winch's and bumper'sand he found that after 2006 a steel bumper is illegal
(construction and use) but if you fit a winch it revert's to a commercial
application and is legal????

Hope this is true otherwise there will be a 2nd hand winch and bumper
up for grabs!!!!
