I have front and rear extended bumpstops. Their principal reason to be is to prevent the shocks to bottom under strong compressions. If the shock is completely closed before the bumpstop hit the axle, the shock mounts will have big stress, which can cause breakage of shock mount, and overwear of shock absorbers.
Besides this, ofcourse you can use extended bumpstops also to limit the compression, in order to fit bigger tires without lifting too much the car.
Expecially the front axle of jimny has low bumpstop clearance: with the car parked, you can measure the distance between bumpstop and axle, and you will see that with the longer shocks of lift kits, this measure is higher than the available travel of shock absorber (you measure the lenght of shock shaft out of shock body)
My shock absorbers are 15cm longer than stock ones, and i extended my bumpstops of 7.5cm
When the bumpstop start touching the axle, the shock absorbers has still 2-3cm of travel left before being completely closed: this reserve is usefull when you land from jumps or when you hit a deep hole too fast
Of course ... if you drive not too hard, with a light car like our Jimny, you can avoid to use extended bumpstops.
Also if you have a really high lift, it could happen that the suspension can't compress so much to close all the shock absorber. I had a talk with Offroad Armory, and they explained me that this is the reason why they did not include longerb bumpstops in their lift kit : even when landing from jumps or hitting a deep hole, the suspension is designed to absorb the bump before complete closure of shock absorber

es1000's dont have an internal bump stop, es3000's and 9000's do but as what was mentioned before, yes they can have a bump stop but the pin mount on the shock would probally snap first anyway!

I now have extended bumpstops due to tyre clearance issues.
The old bumpstops are held on by a bolt screwing through their mount on the chassis through to the bumpstop.
You an not get a sicket on and mine were so corroded it was obvios that the head would round off when I put a spanner on them. You can't get a gringer in to take the head of the bolt off so the only ay would be to chisel the head off.
Instead I had some tube and plate welded onto the axle to meet the old bumpstop sooner.
Here they are:
