Strange question.... but I have a tech2 for my vauxhall - obd2 USB scan tool.
Does anyone have software ( or the name for it ) for the jimny if its OBD2 ?
Also, where is the plug located?
Thanks,
Bert

If the Jimny is post 2001, the socket is under the drivers side dash trim by the steering column.

The original freeware Scantool.net should work well enough, you might need to search for an early release though, the later ones only work with the genuine ELM chips.

Plenty of OBD2 software about, try google: EasyOBDII is one. I can't remember what I use, its on my laptop somewhere...

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Yes the jimny is obd2 compatible, The socket is if I remeber just under the dash to the left of the steering column. I have used a couple of programs one of which was Digimoto Lite whcih succesfully diagnosed my faulty 02 sensor. I theory any OBd2 software should work.

The bad news is that there is a transition phase. ie. Early OBD2 socketed cars actually run ODB1 on a different pin, therefore although your OBD2 scanner will plug in it will not work.

I quote Rhinoman (the resident expert on these matters)

The scan tool asvertised on eBay will not work on an OBD1 Suzuki, the early Jimnys use a Suzuki proprietary protocol, commonly referred to as SDL. Although they have an OBD2 (J1962) connector the diagnostic link is wired to pin 9 which the OBD2 specification reserves for the manufacturers own use. There are two scan tools that will work, the Tech 1 and the Carmen, unfortunately they cost several thousand pounds each
