M15A Swap progress & questions. was created by NotNeil
Hi All,
Let's get a quick introduction out of the way first.
My name is Niels (Sounds like Neil, but it's not Neil) and i'm from The Netherlands.
We bought our first Jimny in November of 2025.
Well... my girlfriend did and officially it's her Jimny, but i can't help driving it any chance i get. And i love it too.
2009 Jimny with around 170.xxx km on the odometer when she bought it.
It was a real shame that a few weeks ago, the head gasket decided the shit the bed. (pardon my dutch.)
(Odometer reading 181.xxx kilometers.)
And since i know the difference between a wrench and a spanner, i decided to dive straight into a M15A swap, because who needs a care free life, right?
And i must say, it's not as easy as the internet says it is. (it never is btw) but up until this point it's honestly not that bad.
I managed to pull the M13A out in about two days and i've now started the process of cleaning parts and swapping them over to the M15A. (I bought for €450,- with 56K kilometers on the clock.)
Everything is swapping over without much issues. (except for the crank pulley on the M15A, that seems to be more stuck then i hoped.)
I'm trying to source all the gaskets and other stuff online. And almost everything is available, except for the Oil Filter Stand Screw Threaded Insert. (If that's the right name for it. It's the oilfilter thread thingie, you need to swap over to get rid of the oil filter bracket on the M15A.)
I can only find one on Ebay, sourced from India. but i heard, that this has a Suzuki part number and can be ordered at Suzuki? Or do you lovely BigJimny people know of a better (quicker) source?
And do any of you run a bigger radiator? Or even better. Is a bigger radiator needed?
(I saw somewhere that when swapping in a M16A, a bigger radiator would be advised.) any links or product info for a aftermarket radiator?
Thank's for reading! (and possible advice)

Hi All,
I managed to source that Oil Filter Stand thread thingie at a Suzuki Dealer near where i live.
Massive thank's to CelicaRacer for that parts website, worked like an absolute charm!
Managed to get a few more things done over the last few days. Bolted every thing from the M13A to the M15A, except for the valve cover. Because i'm waiting for parts, gaskets and some other bits. But the oil pan, steering pump, aircon pump, water pump, and all the other bits are all swapped. Intake is going in, as soon as the engine's back in. I found, it's easier to remove the engine, with the intake and exhaust already removed. It's probably easier to drop the engine back in without those already mounted, we'll see.
Like i said, i'm waiting for parts to finish off the parts swap and then it's 'putting everything back in the car' time.
I've got some other stuff i'm doing in the meantime, like tidying up the front end and engine bay.
It's nice that the car has a solid base, so it's only a matter of cleaning and no rust repair or welding etc.
Again, thank's for the help! Will post some more progress on here as things move on.
